Nine emerging artists, representing unique aesthetic perspectives and diverse backgrounds, will exhibit visceral paintings and mixed media works in Down the Street. The exhibition will run from 12-10pm down the street from the Logan Square Blue Line Station at a residential greystone at 3016 West on historic Logan Blvd. Dreamy, minimalist music by indie pop artists Renee- Louise Carafice, A Light Sleeper and Shemilaya will begin around 7 PM. In addition, Infidel Group will be accepting art supply donations. The donations (coloring books, watercolors, crayons, etc…) will be shipped to Escuela Primaria Simon Bolivar, an elementary school in la majahua, mexico.
Modeled in the vein of art groups of the early 1900s such as Die Brücke, Infidel Group members share an enthusiasm for engagement, professionalism and balance amongst contemporary artists. The idea for the group was conceived nearly a decade ago by founding members Danny Powell and Jono Tosch, and has developed over time into a dynamic ensemble, rounded out by artists David Keel, Anna Soltys, Kevin Lustrup, Kim Frieders, Eulalio Fabie de Silva, Guillermo Munro and Anne Zakaras. Down the Street is the first major event coordinated by and featuring the group as a whole.
